elemental (2018)

when an image is made with polaroid pack film, there are two parts.  after pulling the film through the camera, and once the image has been given proper developing time, the two parts are peeled apart and you are left with the image on photo paper, and a photo negative.  this negative is often discarded with peel apart film. but i made a choice to save the negatives, bleach the black backing and scan what remains.  i take no care to "preserve" the negative in its pure state, but allow it to be crumpled, covered in sand, scratched and stuck together with others in order to allow a new image to emerge.
