What happens during a photo session?

Well for starters, I will not be posing or directing or asking you to look at me and smile. I will tag along with you on your favorite adventures, at home in the yard or wherever you roam. It may get messy and kids may get fussy and that is 100% A-OK with me - this is your beautiful life. I LOVE spending time with families who are enjoying the great outdoors. Here are some examples of activities families have hired me to capture : hiking in the rain, hunting for newts, feeding the goats, searching for fungi, playing on a backyard pump track, harvesting veggies, collecting eggs from the chicken coop, building sandcastles at the beach, tossing a football in the yard and wandering through the redwoods. Whatever it is that your family loves to get into, we’ll do that.

What do I need to do to prepare for a session?

Nada! You don’t even have to clean up really. Your truth is beautiful. I will send you a questionnaire ahead of time to make sure you have a chance to think about the details of your life right now that are most important to you. This helps me keep an eye out for these moments during our session together.

How much does a session cost?

Arftul family photos: This session begins at $500 for 2 hours at your home, or wherever you roam. These are unposed, documentary-style collections of moments that help to tell a story of your family in those hours I spent with you. Let’s play in the yard, go for a hike or build sandcastles at the beach!

Birth story: These sessions are available for a sliding scale of $500 - $2000 and include on-call time from 38-42 weeks, the birth, and an hour or two after delivery. Video may be added for an additional fee. As a homebirth mom to two sweet kiddos, the auntie to one amazing nephew who entered our family through open adoption, and friend to countless others who each have their own unique “birth” story - I understand that family can be made in all sorts of ways.  Whether you are adopting or planning a home birth, hospital birth, c-section, or have a surrogate  (or any of the countless ways you are building your family!) let me help tell your story.  

Home movies: I am very excited to now also offer Family Heirloom Film sessions - aka fancy home movies :) These can be anything from your family doing farm chores to baby’s first bath time. Whatever you want to remember, I am here to help. These special sessions start at $1500.

Do you offer discounts?

I believe representation matters so I offer a 50% discount to the LGTBQ community, to BIPOC, and to single parents. Additionally, no one will be turned away by inability to pay, as I also believe everyone deserves to have their story told. I am open to barter and trades.
